Kat Richards is a Philadelphia, PA based artist that primary uses printmaking, drawing, CNC technologies, and fibers. Their work investigates the potential of bodies using tools, lexicons, technology, and image making. Using an index, their work creates fantasy-based images that are inspired by sci-fi, queerness, and utopias.
Richards received their B.F.A (2016) in Fine Arts from the University of Kansas and their M.F.A. (2019) in Printmaking from Tyler School Of Art. They have exhibited nationally in locations that include, New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Kansas City among other locations. Richards has been involved with art organizations such as Anderson Ranch Art Center and Women Studio Workshop. They were a visiting artist at the University of Kansas in 2018 and Kansas City Art Institute in 2017. They also are also apart of public arts programs, most recently being in New York City at Hales Gallery Project Space. Previously, they taught at Tyler School of Art as an instructor in the printmaking department, and currently teach continuing Education program.
